First Meal in Sorrento - What an adventure.

So we got back from Capri and were debating on what we should do - go the hotel restaurant again? No. We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor (my holy grail) and it was amazing.

Il Borgo stood out to us because we were looking for some good seafood and they offered to pick you up and drop you off for free. So we made a 9pm reservation and waited in the lobby for the car..... and waited.... and waited. Finally called again at 9:30 and someone on the phone apologized many times and said someone would be there soon.

Finally a car arrived and a middle aged man was driving, he seemed ok but making some dirty jokes etc. which I did not mind but I found it strange that a worker would talk like this.... WELL MY SUSPISONS CAME TRUE AS WE PULLED UP THE RESTAURANT. He was the owner. I called it and when we walked in he treated us like royalty. He gave us the best table in the house on a terrace overlooking the coast and then we dined like KINGS. Some of the best food I have ever had.

First course! Bruschetta and Polenta

Muscles in a pepper sauce!

Fish Antipasta!

Sorrento is known for its lemons and fish. So I got Sea Bass in a Lemon sauce - the fish came out whole and they filleted it at our table. It was delicious. I ate the entire thing and could have eaten a few more...

Chocolate Almond Cake! Ugh so delicous

A trip to Sorrento would not be complete without a few shots of Limoncello!

Capri!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to the coast last weekend it was amazing - sorry for the lateness!

Yes many !!!!!! because it was that amazing.

First off let me tell you about my anxiety. My friends in my class warned me of the dangers of the Naples train station and one of them had been mugged there recently. We had to go to the naples train station to transfer to a sketchy train to Sorrento where we were staying. So here I am with all my bags in front of me wallet in my underwear, credit card and money in my shoes running through the train station so no one mugged me. Yes I am fucking crazy.

ANYWAY. We left on Thursday and after 5 hours of traveling we checked into the AMAZING Hilton Sorrento Palace. It was the first time I used my Hilton Team Member Discount too wooo! The hotel was unbelievable with a view of Mt Vesuvius from the outdoor terrace where we had dinner and drinks.

We went to bed knowing that Friday would be exhausting and it was well worth it. We woke up and got one of the first Ferry Boats to Capri. Even though John was literally GREEN when we got off we hopped on yet another boat to get to the Blue Grotto.

After the Blue Grotto we had a boat tour around the island and it was magnificent. I cant even begin to describe how in love I am with Capri. The water is completely BLUE and you can see the bottom which is eerie and amazing at the same time.

After the boat tour we decided to settle down and chillax by the beach. By beach I mean rock beaches because Capri is a limestone beach town.... not the most comfortable but who could complain when it looks like this?!

After the beach we took a terrifying bus ride up the roads that were so windy and tight it looked like we were going to just roll into the ocean. Insane.

When we got to our destination we went to the chair lift! The chair lift takes you to the highest point in Capri! The views were insane. I absolutely love this island and can not wait until we go back!

Carved our initials into the top of Capri!

Oh! Also of course I had a Caprese salad1! nomnom

A Week In Florence - A Week too late !

This is a post about not this week but last!

So we kind of have a routine down pact. We are getting sick of pasta every night ( I know stone me to death), so we ventured out and found some different restaurants.

One is a Greek one that is so delicious. Yes. Greek Food in Florence.

Also we go to Mexican Happy Hour every Tuesday and then just stumble through Florence.

Wednesday we usually stay in and cook and study since we have quizzes every Thursday

Last Wednesday we went to Palace in Florence to visit the Gardens of the Palace and see Romeo and Juliet. It was so amazing to see it in Italy and see it in these amazing Gardens. The production was AMAZING. The cast was great and it was a really nice night out.

Thursday we pack and plan for the weekend trips – We have had trips every weekend. So exhausting! But Amazing

Lucca

Every town we go into I seem to say “ This is my favorite I want to live here.” But Lucca I can see myself living in. Surrounded by a fortified wall, this small town in Tuscany is filled with Italians and barely any Tourists. It was nice to be in a city and be one of the only tourists there to experience the culture.

NomNom

It was one of the coolest days we have had here so it was perfect.

One of the main attractions of the town is to just relax, rent a bike, and ride around the wall. So that’s what we did. It was nice to just take it easy and take all of this in.

We spent most of the day getting “lost” and just wondering around to see as much as we can. The town was amazing and if I could go back I would! So relaxing and beautiful.

Wine, Wine and More Wine!

So my blogging has sucked! I am sorry for that so lets catch up!!!

So last Friday we went to Chianti for a wine tasting in a Castle and a typical Tuscan Dinner. It was seriously amazing and I am not a huge wine drinker but this was like tears from the gods.

We started the tour at a Castle in Chianti called Castello Querceto. Here the Chianti wine is bottled and produced from over 60 acres of vineyards, the castle sits on 200 acres in the region. It was unbelievable. I drank wine in castle? Someone pinch me.

Here are some of the barrels of the wine. I was ready to just open the spout and drink it.

This is the first bottles they ever produced in 1904. They recently opened a bottle and it was still good and delicious. I asked if they would open one for me and they did! Just kidding…

A typical wine tasting meal of cheese, salami and crostini . So delicious.

 First wine!
 Cheers!

 Second glass!

Third Dessert wine, which we dipped biscotti into

After the wine tasting we had a tour through some of the Chianti towns including the birth place of Verezzano. So cool.

Afternoon snack :D

We ended up in a Tuscan Restaurant where we feasted on a meat sauce, a regular spicy red sauce, pork and sausage and beans. And of course tiramisu – a typical Tuscan dinner. I wish I could relive this!
