Rome Day 1!

I decided to start blogging about my trip, mostly for myself so I can remember everything that happens.

Since I am behind about 5 Days this will be a very long post...

The flight to Rome was a nightmare for me. I stayed awake the entire time while John and Fred slept. It was miserable. We got off of the plane and were greeted by the amazing city of Rome.

We went to our B&B (basically a private apartment) and one of the owners gave us a map and planned out the days for us. The first day we went to the Colosseum first, it was amazing. How a structure like this is still semi-standing today is amazing. Its the oldest thing I have ever seen and I was just in awe at the size and detail of it.

We ate lunch at a small cafe outside of the Colosseum and I had a simple caprese panini, it was wonderful. We went back to the room for a little nap since I was going on little sleep.

Later we walked around the streets and went to the Trevi Fountain. Seeing it in person was insane, and I of course threw my coins in making a wish.

That night we ate at a small restaurant outside the Trevi and I had some delicious pasta. Pene Arrabiata. Also ordered our first legal drink! A bottle of white wine with dinner.

We went to a nice gelateria on a recommendation and I got Carmel Gelato. I don't think my mouth was ready for something so delicious. I could probably just survive on that for the next 5 weeks. After our stomaches were full and our feet were killing us, we headed back to our room... Where I thought I would get a nice sleep.

Side note - I had left my phone on EST so I can see what time it was home to talk to my parents - even though my phone is not working over seas.

I wake up look at the phone and notice its 4:30am. Thinking its still EST I wake John and Fred up and tell them we need to start getting ready for breakfast. They proceed to yell at me and say its 4:30am Italy time. I was so jet lagged and delirious and stayed up the rest of the night.


So Day 2 of Italy started with no sleep at all again and I had no concept of time whatsoever haha.
