Bittersweet goodbye Florence!
We woke up at 5am to go to the airport – of course when we got there we had trouble with out baggage and each had to pay over $100 in extra fees to get on the plane. This of course made the start of the day terrible.
The flight was not too bad only, less then two hours. When we got to London ( yay!) we discovered they had also now lost John’s luggage. WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO GET THIS KARMA?! After filling out some forms we went to our hotel, which was walking distance from the Airport
Since the Olympics were going on we had to stay just outside of London so we did not have to pay some ridiculous prices per night.
We went to the hotel and as we were waiting for our room to be ready, in strolls a man with johns luggage! The day was making a turn for the better!
Finally checked in and got settled and showered then headed out into the city.
We discovered that the train was not that expensive and was an express to London so it took us only about 30-40 mins each time.
Right after the train ride we found a pub nearby and had our first pub grub. FISH AND CHIPS!!! Might be my new favorite food in the world. They were delicious!
When we got the City we decided to do a walking tour of the Westminster area on our owns with a free audio guide we got.
LORD NELSON IN PERSON! CORAL I WAS SO HAPPY!!
After walking around and sightseeing all afternoon we headed to dinner.
I had read about a different pizza place in London that served all kinds of whackey pizza so we decided to try it. It was called Fire and Stone -
Yummy Pimms!!!
Jakarta pizza with Satay sauce, mozzarella, chicken, spinach, aubergine and red chilli, topped with tomato chutney, roasted peanuts and coriander
This is the Casablanca Pizza with infused mascarpone cheese sauce, wild mushrooms sautéed in garlic butter, blue cheese, mozzarella, topped with toasted walnuts and parsley - DELICIOUS
Dessert Sampler of course with a Banana Pizza!
After dinner we headed to see Sweeney Todd! We had ordered tickets before we left and I could not wait to see it! The play did not disappoint at all Imelda Staunton who is actually also in Harry Potter, played one of the leads so I was incredibly happy. I wish I could have seen the play 10 more times while I was there. It was really mind-blowingly good!
After the play we headed back to our hotel since we were completely exhausted.
